Sweden will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU during the first half of 2023
Every six months one of the EU member states holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, also known as the Council of Ministers. Sweden will hold the Presidency during the first half of 2023.
During the six months, the Riksdag will arrange eight conferences at which members of parliament and officials from the national parliaments of the EU member states and the European Parliament will participate and discuss various issues.
The national parliaments' part in the arrangements during the EU Presidency is referred to as the parliamentary dimension of the presidency.

Meeting of the Chairpersons of COSAC 29–30 January
COSAC is a conference for meetings between the European Parliament and the special EU bodies of the national parliaments, which in Sweden is the Committee on EU Affairs. A meeting for the chairpersons of the respective EU bodies and representatives from the European Parliament was held in the Riksdag’s Former Second Chamber on 29–30 January.

Organised crime on the agenda when the Riksdag hosts meeting of the chairpersons of COSAC
On 29–30 January, the Riksdag will host the meeting of the chairpersons of COSAC. During the conference, the chairpersons of the national parliaments’ EU affairs committees and members of the European Parliament will be meeting to discuss current EU issues. The meeting will be chaired by Hans Wallmark (Moderate Party), the Chair of the Committee on EU Affairs.
