Every six months one of the EU member states holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, also known as the Council of Ministers. Sweden held the Presidency during the first half of 2023.

During the six months, the Riksdag arranged eight conferences in which members of parliament and officials from the national parliaments of the EU member states and the European Parliament participated and discussed various issues.

The national parliaments' part in the arrangements during the EU Presidency is referred to as the parliamentary dimension of the presidency.
