Cooperation on economic governance and budgetary policy
One purpose of the SECG Conference is to promote inter-parliamentary cooperation and democratic accountability with regards to economic governance and budgetary policy in the EU, particularly in the European Monetary Union (EMU).
Economic issues and tax issues will be discussed during the conference, along with other related topics such as employment policy.
The conference will be held in Brussels
During the spring of 2023, the SECG Conference will be held in Brussels during the European Parliamentary Week. The conference will be co-chaired by the European Parliament and the Riksdag. Representatives from the European Parliament will lead the conference together with members of the Riksdag.
The SECG Conference is held twice a year and is attended by members of the relevant committees from the national parliaments and the European Parliament. From the Riksdag, it is primarily members of the Committee on Finance who participate in this conference. However, depending on which issues that are to be raised at a particular meeting, members from other Riksdag committees may participate, for example the Committee on Taxation or the Committee on the Labour Market.
The full name of the SECG Conference is the Inter-parliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the EU.
