Single market and Ukraine on the agenda when the Riksdag hosts the Plenary Meeting of COSAC
On 14–16 May, the Riksdag will be hosting the Plenary Meeting of the LXIX COSAC. During the conference, members of the national parliaments’ EU affairs committees and members of the European Parliament will be meeting to discuss current EU issues.
The meeting will be chaired by Hans Wallmark (Moderate Party), the Chair of the Committee on EU Affairs.
The Plenary Meeting of COSAC is held within the framework of what is known as the parliamentary dimension – the Riksdag's part of the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council of Ministers. It is one of the recurring conferences arranged every six months by the parliament of the country holding the Presidency.
Green transition, 30 years of the single market and Ukraine on the agenda
The meeting will be chaired by Hans Wallmark (Moderate Party), who is Chair of the Committee on EU Affairs.
“The Plenary Meeting of COSAC is the largest meeting for parliamentarians during the Swedish EU Presidency. It brings together the European Parliament and EU affairs committees of the parliaments of the member states. From Sweden, the members of the Riksdag Committee on EU Affairs will be participating. The programme includes the single market, a green transition and the situation in Ukraine”, says Hans Wallmark.
The Riksdag to arrange eight conferences during the EU Presidency
Sweden is holding the Presidency of the EU Council of Ministers in January–June 2023. Within the framework of the parliamentary dimension of the Presidency, the Riksdag is arranging eight conferences and meetings during this period, in which members of the national parliaments of the EU member states and of the European Parliament participate and discuss various matters. The conferences are part of continuing cooperation between the parliaments, also known as interparliamentary cooperation in the EU.
